Pousada Piuval

The Pousada Piuval is situated on the Fazenda Iripanga near the beginning of the Transpantaneira Park Road in Pocone, Mato Grosso.  Unlike many lodges along the Transpantaneira, which are owned and managed by people whose only profession is tourism, the Pousada Piuval has its origins as a working cattle ranch.  The owners opened their doors to tourism some thirty years ago, and the lodge continues to be owned and managed by yet another generation of a traditional cattle ranching family.

The Pousada Piuval is located on the Transpantaneira Park Road115 kilometers from Cuiaba, and 10 kilometers along the Transpantaneira Park Road from Pocone.  It is the first lodge along the Transpantaneira.  It is a working cattle ranch with an area of 7000 hectares of land, a river, and a lake.  

At Pousada Piuval you will encounter beautiful landscapes and a wide variety of Pantanal fauna and flora.

The quadruple rooms consist of a double bed, a single bed, and an extra mattress. 

09 Luxury Suites (36 m²), with mini-refrigerator, split air conditioners, ceiling fans, 32’ LED Television with cable TV with 12 channels, free wi-fi internet, telephone, safe, hairdryer, private bathrooms, private balcony with a table, chairs, and hammocks with a panoramic view of the Pantanal.

01 Suíte Master (45 m²), with mini-refrigerator, split air conditioner, ceiling fan, 42’ LED Television with cable TV with 12 channels, free wi-fi internet, telephone, safe, hairdryer, private bathroom with hydromassage, private balcony with a table, chairs, screened doors and hammocks with a panoramic view of the Pantanal.

Activities:

Activities at the lodge include:

Safari on the grounds or along the Transpantaneira in a Safari Car.
Nocturnal spotlighting safari on the grounds or along the Transpantaneira in a Safari Car.
Nocturnal hike.
Boat Trip on the Piuval Lake during the period of high water, usually December to June, or on the Rio Claro during the dry season.
Numerous woodland and forest margin trails.

Visit two observation towers.

Meals

Three meals are served daily as well as an afternoon refreshment.  

Breakfast is served between 07h00 and 8h30.

Lunch is served between 11h30 and 13h30

Afternoon refreshments are available at 15h00.

Dinner is served from 19h00 to 20h30.

The meals are prepared by a professional chef.  The food is buffet-style and includes both regional and international dishes.

While the buffet always offers a variety of dishes for those who don’t eat meat, special dietary preferences can be requested in advance.

Schedule

Check-in to the rooms is at 15h00, and check-out is at 13h00 on the final day.  It is possible to arrive earlier in the day and have lunch or even participate in activities before checking into the room.  After check-out, it is also possible to continue using the common areas which include bathrooms and showers until 17h00.  Clients who stay in the room beyond 13h00 are subject to pay an additional day in the room. 

Children:

 One child between one and 5 years old is free.  There is a small charge for each additional child in this age range.  Children between 6 and 10 years pay a small charge, and children over 10 years old pay full price.
